What is Cement Silo?

Cement silo or cement silo is one of the most preferred equipment among construction equipment. Although silos that are necessary for the creation of concrete plants come to mind, these machines actually show the job of storing cement. Considering the tonnages required for concrete production facilities, the types of construction equipment also differ. However, cement silos, which have a storage capacity of 25 to 3000 tons as standard, can also be in higher capacities according to the operational needs. These equipments, which are made of stainless and extremely durable products, have many uses.

Cement silo, which is used for the production of concrete and mortar and also for the storage of ash-type materials, consists of spiral conveyors, which are responsible for transporting the materials from the part in the middle of the building to the weighing point. These equipment, which are produced in different capacities according to customer demands, are preferred as a mandatory binder in materials such as concrete and cement. These machines are used for the purpose of storing all kinds of materials for the purpose of processing the factories. Cement will be protected from environmental factors and other harmful factors thanks to its metal structure and the features it is equipped with. Complexes of silos are also conveyed to a cement pipeline, along with the bulk of the materials being stored.

Cement silo Working Principle

A bolted silo was designed for the storage of materials such as grain and fly ash, along with cement, in the pouring centers. They are equipped at a material level as well as showing the material position. A truck crane must be used to complete the assembly of the cement silos. Silos built on a prefabricated concrete foundation are assembled vertically. It will be ready for use after the base is boiled and combined with the embedded parts of the foundation. With the fixing of the storage areas of the silos, the cement truck will be transported to the site and the pipe transport lines of the truck will be connected to the feeding pipe. During this transportation process, the vibration button of the dust collector systems will be pressed continuously in order to prevent the cement from clogging and bursting the cloth bag.

The fullness or lack of material can be seen at this stage. During unloading, the materials located at the bottom of the cone and from the section will be transferred to the cement transport device. If arching occurs during this time, it will be necessary to press the button on the broken belt devices. If any malfunction occurs during the distribution of the cements, the manual discharge valves at the bottom of the cone must be closed in order to prevent overflow.

Usage Areas of Cement Silos

Products called cement silos are seen in many sectors. There are different types of pads in the silos that help the cement to flow quickly when desired. It is important that the cement is stored as it was when it was first prepared, before it dries. The silos, which can have different capacities according to the need, can be composed of a single chamber or have two or three chambers. Cement silos with valves in order to ensure pressure safety are also composed of cartridge filters and air nets. While the cement measuring level in the silo is very useful, it will be possible to make an extra load in line with the needs. This system, which offers the advantage of continuing the service without interruption, is also long-lasting because it is made of stainless steel. It is also preferred by companies that provide ready-mixed concrete services.

Cement Silos Make Working Easy and Comfortable

The tool that provides the best cement storage is the bolted cement silo. These silos, which help to make working in the construction site environment comfortable and easy, also offer error-free working capability. By helping customers achieve the results they desire in the best way, companies will also be able to increase their profit margins. There are silos in different tonnage structures that are manufactured depending on the dimensioning of the silos and the demand loaded on them. Although companies plan a 2-day storage as a target, there may be a difference in this period. The silos marked to show the type of cement they contain should be dried solidly and their periodic maintenance should be done regularly.

Portable products, which are in a fixed or mobile form, can have a storage capacity of 10 to 75 tons. Cement and dust can be easily controlled, although it is easy to install and transport in the field. While it should be noted that the joints do not contain hardened cement, it should not be forgotten that cement is a dusty process. Useful for construction sites, these storage products are ideal for powdered materials. Portable mobile products are also available in many product suppliers or manufacturers. At this point, the important thing will be the imagination of the manufacturer or supplier. A wise decision should be made in line with the company's needs. Our company offers portable or fixed products in line with customer needs.

What are the cement silo types?

1. Horizontal Cement Silos:

Horizontal cement silos are designed for ease of use and portability. These silos are typically mounted on a trailer or a wheeled frame, making them suitable for mobile concrete plants or construction sites where the height is restricted. They offer a lower storage capacity compared to vertical silos but are convenient for transportation and installation in different locations.

2. Vertical Cement Silos:

Vertical cement silos are tall, upright structures that provide a larger storage capacity within a smaller footprint. These silos are commonly found in stationary concrete batching plants where space efficiency is crucial. Vertical silos can hold a significant volume of cement and are ideal for long-term storage needs. They ensure efficient material flow and are often equipped with various components such as dust collectors and level indicators for enhanced functionality.

3. Bolted Cement Silos:

Bolted cement silos are modular silos constructed from individual panels that are bolted together on-site. This design allows for easy transportation, installation, and customization based on storage requirements. Bolted silos are versatile, cost-effective, and can be quickly assembled or disassembled, making them suitable for temporary concrete plants or projects with changing capacity needs.

4. Welded Cement Silos:

Welded cement silos are fabricated from steel plates that are welded together to form a single, watertight unit. These silos are robust, weather-resistant, and ideal for long-term cement storage in permanent concrete production facilities. Welded silos offer strength and durability, ensuring the protection of cement from external elements such as moisture and air, thus maintaining the quality of the stored material over extended periods.

These different types of cement silos cater to various construction needs, providing efficient storage solutions for cement in construction projects of different scales and requirements.

These materials, which help to store different products, can also be expressed as a kind of storage container. It is equipped with blower systems to reach the truck or mixer, although it is in different sizes according to the needs of the company. Large silos are structures where finished products are stored until the moment of shipment. Small silos can be moved to different locations. These products, which are preferred due to their low cost, low maintenance costs, resistance to abrasion and good performance in terms of friction, are long-lasting thanks to their internal and external corrosion.
